I have a 24" Samsung monitor. It's an LCD, so the refresh rate's slow. (60hz) But, it's still a dope monitor. Great quality.
I then have a 28" tube TV. It's an "SDTV." (AKA it can take in HDTV inputs, but it's not HDTV.) Anyway, it's decent quality. The plus side of the TV is that it's in front of my bed.

So here are my options:

I can get two female CAT-5 connections, and wire them so that I can plug one into my computer, and one into my TV, then run a CAT-5 cable (Ethernet cable) to my TV whenever I want to watch a movie. I have a lot of CAT-5 cables laying around, so it's not a big deal, in terms of expense. I'd just have to solder it all. Then I could lay back in my bed, and watch a movie.

Second option, which is easier:

I can lay long way and watch the movies on my computer. The pros of this is the best quality possible, my speakers would all be aimed toward my bed already, so the sound imaging would be decent, and I would have sub-duty.
The con is that I could only watch it with max, one other person. And even still, it wouldn't be too comfortable. (I have a futon.)

Here's a picture for reference of room:

P.S. I got a different futon than the one posted. My futon goes completely flat.

I want to make the speaker wires long and make a REAL 5.1 system. (I.E. one speaker in each corner.

What do you suggest? Pole will be poastd.

hrm..maybe i'm confused...why the cat5?

Why not just run a long video cable to the tv on the other video out? Then just turn that on when you want to watch the tv instead of the computer? OR...mirror the output so its on both the monitor and the tv so more people could enjoy it?

I think this could be done rather inexpensive my way. Explain the cat 5 thing though.

Of course we might run into you only having one video out, which is no big deal as a splitter would cost about 2.20 cents

25 feet of vga to vga (i'm not sure what ports you have available so i'm going lowest tech first) is 6.51.

I don't think you're understanding it. And it's my fault for not explaining better. I have cable. I'm talking about soley for movies. I could go out and buy really long S-video and 3.5mm to RCA lines... but I already have spare RCA's, spare 3.5MM's, and a spare S-video. In total they = 8 wires. CAT-5 cable has 8 wires. So, those two wires turns into one neat wire. The idea of female connectors came so I don't have to destroy a CAT-5 cable. And, if my set-up changed, and I needed a longer or shorter one, I wouldn't have a problem.
