How often do you do it? My Vista install is starting to drag ass even with 4GB and not a lot of shit running so I will probably do it this week before I go back to work.
I have not done this machine since I built it in Dec 07 I am going to try and find something decent to snap an image with once I get shit like office and everything else I need installed and burn it to a DVD for an easy reimage every 6 months or so.

Unless I notice trouble, I do not do it. Someone with your advanced network available, I would recommend just making the image available on a server and image from the server rather than dvd. No real benefit other than not having to look for a dvd when you want to do it, but it is a time saver.
What do you use to image? I've been using Acronis True Image for awhile. Works very well. Can set it to auto archive, you can search the archives etc. Pretty sweet.

Speaking of images. Pretty much as standard I image all my computers after they are working perfectly. Did my stereo pc up and was so fixed on getting the audio working and sounded great, I didn't put avira on :( So got a virus (thanks torrent sites ) so reinstalled everything (fuck leaving bits of virus's when I've got barely anything on this) and first thing after the install was done and my shit loaded.....image ;)
Make an image and save yourself hours of pain.
