Um... Yes... I have found that no matter what they end up making your life miserable in one way or another.

Even if there are advantages to having someone around the negatives pretty much will always out weight the benefits in the long run. Women in relationships typically hold back careers, cause elevated stress levels, cost lots of money, and never give out the good sex unless you pay them with something. Lets look this for a second. Personally to me my basic goals without being specific are to live a healthy long life, enjoy the things I enjoy, and be successful. I woman will probably cause me to be less healthy since stress is obviously bad for you. I can't achieve the level of success I would like to have without her nagging at me every minute that I work too much, but yet she will cost me more money. I won't be able to do all the things that I enjoy, because she won't like most of them. If I like cars it will be "why don't you just take it to the shop to get worked on", if I like guns "why do you have to have something that kills people in my house", if I like audio equipment "I don't want those big speakers in my living room", etc etc etc.


My grandpa's half brother had the ultimate setup. He lived out in the country by himself in an older farm house. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted. He did have a girlfriend who lived in town who did what she wanted, when she wanted, how she wanted. They dated for IIRC 50 years. Now to me that is the setup. Screw living together. Screw getting married. Screw having kids.
