Fuck HP, I've had so much shit go wrong with this garbage.
Anyways something new started today, the screen just randomly goes dark. The image is there but not lit up so you can barely see it. If i close the lid then open it back up again the light comes on. It was really hot today for the first time in a while so idk if it has anything to do with this, though i dont think it did this last summer. Anyways any ideas?
Well that's just to damn bad

Have you verified that the system fan is still working? Can you feel it come on?

If yes, next question...do you hear a buzzing coming from the laptop that you really haven't heard before?

if the answer to that is yes, you need a new screen inverter. If you are decent with electronics/computers, you should be able to do this yourself. If you are not, then do NOT even try it (it looks semi-easy if you look it up, but you can cause damage to the screen).

true enough :P
I've started to read reports about problems with certain integrated video cards on HP systems. Make the bottom too hot to really even touch.
Still pointing towards a screen inverter.

Well it hasn't happened at all yesterday or today, seems to be working alright. The system fan is running. There is a very very slight buzzing sound, but I don't know if it's new or not because I always have the cooling pad running and that's quite loud. So I'm not sure what's up. It hasn't been anywhere near as hot the past two days as it was the day the screen light was shutting off.

Try to see if the buzzing is coming from right below the front of the monitor next to the keyboard.

Yeah it's coming from the very base of the screen it seems, but I can only hear it if i put my ear right up to it.

hmm sooo, should I go through hp for that, or fix myself? idk if this bitch is still under warranty or not.

if under warranty get them to do it. If your good with electronics, you could do it.

I'll have to hit them up on the chat and see, if not I think I can handle it.

lol the old 'screen inverter' joke.
Pl8er is trolling you, trying to get you to either fuck up your laptop or look like the jackass to the HP tech.
HP tech will probably try and sell you the pink handled screen stretcher or some shit.
Well played, Pl8er. Well played, indeed.

Beware!
IMO you should reinstall windows. That fixes almost anything.
