Fucking shit cock sucking whore bags.....so its now 1:15am and i'm still awake dealing with my fucking server.

You know, when it comes to technology I would consider myself up there for comprehension, really not much I can't fix. So I'm remoted into a friends pc (he is older and doesn't understand pcs for shit) i'm going to be doing a restore soon for him as his son destroyed his pc. My server stops responding to the file transfer so I try to remote in to see what happened. Doesn't respond. I go downstairs and its locked up. Reboot and my array is saying critical conditions and my mirror has failed. Try to start the computer and the fucking primary OS drive is forcing blue screens.

Reboot...array gone, gets into the OS...i'm like yeah, fuck you not playing this game. Rip out powersupply, install new powersupply...hard drive totally functional and I switched the array from mirror to 0+1 and i'm backing up that shit to another array until I can actually find out if the drive went down or if it was all that power supply.

PSU is the source of such a high percentage of problems on a system that is was the most logical choice imo. My hardware is all good stuff and the drives are not that old....so it was just the best place to start.

Now my 2nd tb drive still may be dead, but we will look into that later.

I have remedied a few PCs with a PSU swap. Someone may get so hung up on an error that points to say a video card problem that they just have blinders on when it comes to the possibility that the PSU is causing the video card to act quirky. Having a spare in the closet is always good.

Now that I've woken up and I am not having a hissy fit about this whole server situation I've thought it through and I am going to go with a clustered server setup to avoid this again. I'm going to run the setup across two nodes allowing for virtual servers and fault tolerance. This will add more performance to my server overall and also give me the data protection I really need.

I'm not going through the bullshit I had to deal with last night again *laugh*

That being said, if you have a version of 2008 enterprise server, let me know : D

Me either after the wall I built. I'm lucky enough to have plenty of spare parts laying around that I don't have to buy anything. Honestly, this is a better solution than having to spend money on a better RAID controller.

So i'm hardcore into this now on my day off. I've shut down my primary server, installing Win Server 2003 (couldn't get 08) added Acronis to do remote images to a backup drive. Now I've doubled my harddrive capacity as I don't need to mirror (the images are the backup and done weekly)
