I will first say I fucking hate Star Trek more than your normal person, never really got the show nor its mass following but this new movie coming out looks like it may be pretty good due to the fact it seems nothing like the old flicks.

My predictions are most normal people who like sci-fi flicks will enjoy it while millions of Trekkies will suffer massive amount of sand in vagina due to the movie not being quite 'authentic' enough for them.. just a guess though but I know ST is serious business to most Trekkies

I hope MTV's production of this destroys the legacy so I won't have to hear about trekkie bullshit anymore.

Saw it other day, was awesome. From a trekky point of view, and just as another action movie

From what I understand, they really wanted to push that it wasn't the normal ST, and that anyone would like it. I hope that's the case, because ST makes me want to choke a baby to death.

60s star trek was mehhh

next gen star trek was mehhh+

the rest were horrible

this movie was very good...it links well to the 60s star trek (good character development with a nice plot)

I was very pleasantly surprised.

The two most hyped movies I've heard (critically and from friends) in the last year were The Dark Knight, and Star Trek. The Dark Knight was nowhere near as good as most people made it out to be, so I was worried that Star Trek would be the same....but it is actually a very good movie.

I haven't ever sat down and watched the old Star Trek shows or movies....It always seemed pretty lame and hard to follow.

The movie was bad ass though, almost makes me want to watch the old shows just to get to know the character's history a bit better.
