I recently discovered you can watch full episodes of TV shows on youtube. (I thought it was just clips of people doing stupid shit so I never went). Anyway, instead of watching it on my laptop, I want to watch it on my TV.

I have a DVI (I guess) it's blue thing that connect to a standard monitor cable, USB, and a SD card reader.

My TV has HDMI, componet, a SD card reader.

Is it better to go DVI to HDMI or USB to HDMI? Since it is youtube blown up, they both will probably suck ass.

However, since I am doing that deal where I rent and rip, is there a place where you can download a TV show legally and watch it?

VGA is blue, DVI is a connector with a bunch of pins and a strip in between

Your laptop more than likely has s-video. That will connect to the tv with no issue. If your tv has a digital plug just go digital to digital (dvi).

DVI to HDMI will only transfer video. *ponders* USB to HDMI "may" do audio with video. If not use a minijack to rca to plug into the tv.

IIRC DVI transfers audio as well. VGA only transfers video.

Hrm about 95% sure that it only transfers video. HDMI does both.

You are correct.

Looks like you are right...I have VGA.

I saw a USB to HDMI adapter, but it is $150.

Man, who would have ever dreamed you could watch these old TV shows on the computer.

Again, if your tv has DVI connection (most that have hdmi have DVI) still not an issue at all. I'd go VGA to DVI and then connect the minijack to RCA on the tv

BC, dont go breaking the bank on this. All you need are these 2 cables....

For the video....

For sound. Just hook jack into headphone/mic on laptop and rca's to tv.

Obviously, there are more expensive ways but I dont think thats what you are into. Honestly, a trip to Radio Shack will get these for ~$10. No need to wait for shipping.

Once you get that set up, Get This (http://cgi.ebay.com/Logitech-MX5000-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-Mouse-Combo_W0QQitemZ270387191133QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item3ef4551d5d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50), and you will be all set. You can leave your laptop at your TV and compute from your favorite recliner in big screen glory.

See I'd do that but like to have TV on in the background while computing on my couch with the lappy.

I've never tried this, but if you ran long enough cables to the tv, i bet you could set one of the outputs to the tv (like a dual monitor) and the other for normal computer use. Seems to be getting out of hand at that point though LOL
