So honestly I've never been a wine fan. I have a bunch of bottles that I'm given as gifts and some of them are pretty nice (read that expensive). Well since we don't really drink them, my wife will bust them open and cook with them. So she does this the other night with an 01 or 02 white wine (didn't really even look at exactly what) so there is a few swigs left and I grab some blue cheese and down the wine. Bloody fucking hell, how have I been missing this?!?!? So I have some red wines and one bottle of white left. I opened a red cabernet sovereign that my grandma gave me which was on 02 from near her home in Cali and it was bomb ass. I still have about half a bottle.

Give me some options of what to get next, opinions etc.

I know! I actually have some decent shit too, just always was like "uh, thanks, this looks nice" and then put it in the cabinet. LOL

What kind of wine? There are so many options :D Over the past couple years I've turned into quite the wino. My all time favorite as of now is a Ruffino Classico Riserva Ducale. All Ruffino Chianti's are delicious, but as you go up in price range they just get smoother and yummier mmm...

Not a fan of wine. I am a Reisling kind of guy. I hate reds, they typically dry my mouth out and cause hangover. But I drink a whole bottle, not a glass.

I'll add some fun to this mix. If you recommend me a wine that I end up in love with, that doesn't break the bank to get, I'll buy you a bottle and send it your way as a thanks.

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin is good. Root:1 Cab was good...

I like most of the red wines I try.

"Red" was good.

I'm not a huge Merlot fan myself.

White wine... I've not got a handle on yet.

I like white wine because it doesn't stain the carpet if you kick the bottle over.

Only thing labeled wine I can drink is MD though I think that Arbor Mist and Boones is 'wine' also.

Tried buying a random bottle of white and red and could not keep the shit down.

arbor mist is wine, cheap weak wine, but boones is not wine, read the bottle, its flavored beer. I like white myself more so then red. But if I got to an italian restaurant ill get a glass of red wine. Just makes the meal complete to me. Most people I know dont like red wine, they will spit that shit out. I cant help ya with name though. If I go out to eat Ill just get a house brand. My pap had plum wine once well that shit was nasty. I bought wine onetime that had a sunflower on it, it tasted like ass. Other than beer or liquor I really like champagne though.

I am a fan of Chiraz(Syrah), but will try any of them.

My wife isn't a big wine fan but there are a few she loves. She likes sweet desert wines. If your wife or someone you know is this way then look for wines made from muscadines, Scuppernongs or concordes. They will be a sweety fruity wine.

many reislings can be sweet too, but not as much as types made from the previously mentioned grapes..

+1, I'll look into those. I want to try some cadecues wine, but only because it is from Maynard James Keenan's vineyard. Something tells me it won't be that good.

I'm going to pick-up 3 or 4 of the mentioned in this thread, and see how it goes.

A good place to go is world market. Another thing to look at is if you look even around the grocery store you will see a raiting. the higher the number the better. You can find good wines for under 20-30 dollars rated in the mid 90's. One wine that I also like is yellow tale. Its really cheep ($8 or $9) but is very good I think. Another place by you that has alot of wines is the andersons.

Just drank a bottle of Yellow Tail Rieslang on Sunday and it was pretty good.

Tonight I just opened an 05 Merlot from a local vinyard in Northern Ohio. Full bodied for sure but goes great with my taco's!

I'll snap a pic of the bottle later.

If you drink a bottle of wine throw up a quick review and cost. I'd like to start restocking my wine. This bottle was a gift, I'd assume low-medium cost like 15-25 dollars MAX

Along with screw tops, this is also getting popular. Not from the best wineries, but from some of the larger ones that put out a decent yield. Trying to appeal to picnic-ers and people who want to enjoy wine in places you cant take glass.
