View Full Version : Who will the Broncos trade B. Marshall to?

It looks like the Broncos will try to trade B. Marshall, a very good WR. In fact, I would say that next to Cutler, Marshall is the Broncos most valuable offensive player. Very, very, talented. He should be a pro bowler for some NFC team for the next ten years or so.

Broncos To Brandon: “See You In Camp”
Posted by Mike Florio on June 16, 2009, 4:26 p.m.
We mentioned earlier today that we’ve heard that the Broncos do not plan to trade receiver Brandon Marshall.
Though it might be posturing in order to drive up the trade value, the team is now adopting this stance for the rest of the NFL world to see.
”We look forward to having Brandon at training camp,” coach Josh McDaniels said Tuesday, according to the Denver Post.
That statement contrasts sharply with agent Kennard McGuire’s contention that owner Pat Bowlen told Marshall last Friday that Marshall’s desire to be traded will be accommodated.
And that raises a separate point, in our view. Given that Bowlen publicly has acknowledged that he’s suffering from short-term memory lapses, it might make sense for him to refrain from conducting one-on-one meetings with players who might emerge from the discussion with a recollection that Bowlen might have trouble refuting.

I would love to have him even though he is looking at a few games suspension.
ATL, though, is trying to get away from athletes with off the field problems.

He won't be suspended. They've already said that a few weeks ago.

Apparently Jerry Jones is interested. I wouldn't argue. Williams would make a phenomenal #2.

Jets possibly.
Don't know why they wouldn't. There's talk of them showing interest in Plax...I'd take Marshall over him any day.
Plus, if they want dirty Sanchez to have any success, he needs a #1. Cotchery is a very good WR, but he's no better than a 2.

Has Peppers signed the franchise yet?
If so, the only way they'd take him is if he restructured...I don't see anyone taking on $14M..

Nope. He still hasnt yet. Thats why he hasnt been traded. They cant trade him until he signs unless he works somethin out with the other team before hand.
I'd honestly like to see him stay in carolina. But, seems like he just doesnt wanna be there.

And thusly he dicked us because we couldnt make any substantial free agent acquisitions over the off season because of his huge franchise tender.

While it appears WR Brandon Marshall and the Broncos have come to a stalemate, with each side holding its ground as the team avoids giving in to Marshall's trade demand, sources say a trade is still possible if the team receives an offer to its liking. The problem is that few teams will be willing to put together an enticing package for Marshall, who is coming off hip surgery, has a history of off-field legal issues, which resulted in him being suspended for the first game of last season, and is demanding a lucrative long-term contract, even though he'll be a restricted free agent in 2010 if the league goes to an uncapped year. Marshall already has said goodbye to the team and its fans in a blog post on his Web site, but he has little leverage over the Broncos and most likely will remain in Denver, despite his best efforts to leave.http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/06/20/broncos-have-leverage-in-marshall-stalemate
He's staying Denver.

With the Jets reportedly considering a trade for Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, the Broncos reportedly will be keeping an eye on the things the Jets say and do on the topic.
According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Broncos are "carefully monitoring any public comments made" by the Jets for evidence of tampering.
But the Jets are smart enough (then again, if they're interested in Marshall, maybe they aren't) to realize that they can't make any public comments about Marshall. And the Broncos are smart enough (then again, because they traded Jay Cutler, maybe they aren't) to realize that the Jets are smart enough not to provide any smoking-gun evidence.

Mort: Shanahan planned to cut Brandon Marshall
Posted by Josh Alper on September 13, 2009 11:25 AM ET
The change in coaches from Mike Shanahan to Josh McDaniels has been blamed for some of the problems that Brandon Marshall has had with the Broncos but, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN that's not the case.
Per Mortensen, moments ago on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, Shanahan was planning to cut Marshall after the Pro Bowl in February. The former Broncos coach reportedly felt that Marshall cost the team more games than he helped him win. Per Mort, Shanahan shared those thoughts with Jay Cutler the day before he was fired.
So, strangely enough, despite being suspended and demoted to the scout team during the brief McDaniels era, Marshall may actually have seen his position with the Broncos improve as a result of Shanahan's departure. WTF?
