Is it better to use the 60hz computer input setting or use a 120hz (or 240hz) source setting on the LCD TV?

60 HZ. I doubt you have a 120 HZ LCD.

I'm guessing use the typical source setting... The refresh rate is done in the TV electronics not in the source unit connected to the TV.

Actually 120hz tv's are rather affordable now, you can find a nice 120hz lcd for under 1000. It is the 240hz tv's that are still up there in price.

the higher the hz the better. it refers to how many times the screen refreshes in a second

You could still have a crappy screen with a super high refresh rate...
Just saying...

What about the people who turn their refresh rate down to 24 cycles for 24p videos...

24 frames per second is the standard for films. 120hz is how fast the tv can refresh each movement. Honestly without a true HD signal you will never notice. And 240 is a marketing gimmick because the human eye could tell difference between 120 and 240

Nope. The eye has a hard time distinguishing anything above 60hz. Anything above 120 hz and you won't notice, lol.

The human brain also doesn't really get much more out of any FPS > 30. I learned this due to CAL.

If you go on the avs forums and read most professionals say buy 60 hz and have the tv calibrated. Tons of threads over there on tv brands and models telling you how to calibrate tv to get best settings.
