We all know I am a hardcore hunter.

Started out on deer when I was 9....Started on turkey when I was 15.....

Turkey is my true passion.....

There is a thing called the Grand Slam.

Bagging all 4 sub-species in the US.

I have gotten the eastern (here in MS), the Rio (Texas, my HS graduation present), and the Merriams (South Dakota Black Hills). We got drawn for some really good public land hunting in 2007 in Florida for my last leg of the Grand Slam in Florida (the Osceola)... I missed twice..2 of the first 3 days of the season..............


My question is.....I am about to graduate from college this spring... I want a SINGLE SEASON GRAND SLAM....We got drawn for Florida again..I'm not gonna miss..

March 15-18 - Mississippi
March 19-24- Florida
March- 26-blah
April 25(?)- May 10- South Dakota? (Merriams)
May 13-31- Kansas (Merriams, last leg of Grand Slam)

But I don't feel as accomplished "paying" for it.... As in a "guided" or "private land" hunt... I mean it doesn't mean shit to anyone else if you tell them you pulled a single season slam..But to me for some reason it means everything..I have killed bigger deer the past 3 years than many 50 year old men in their lifetime have around here..All on public land.. Pretty much I'm a badass. Give me land they have in the midwest (Iowa, Illinois, NE Missouri, Indiana) I swear I'd put mofos to shame. Anyone wanna test me? INVITE ME.

Through all this bullshit here is my question. Would you pay for the "missing leg" of your single season grand slam"?

So basically you want to hunt in FL to finish but don't want to pay? If you are on hunting forums don't you guys setup things where you van go hunt on someones land for something like this and maybe offer the same to others if needed in the future? (I know your rents have a lot of land)

I don't think paying to hunt on land would bother me but I have never been a hunter so I just may not understand.

My uncle went out before he got married (He graduated as a pharmacist so had some money) and goes on 1-2 trips a year to different continents shooting all kinds of exotic animals (I believe it is all legit) and has a blast and I don't think he regrets spending any of the money due to having such dope memories.

My point is enjoy and do everything you van while you can because you never know when you will die or get married and have a little snotty shithead kid to hold you back so do it while you can.

Its not Florida thats going to be the problem, its going to be the Rio in Kansas/Oklahoma.

We are trying to do it all on public land which is one fucking hell of an accomplishment <1% of turkey hunters can claim.

Found a good place in Kansas thats not guided but still $450/person. That'd be $900 for me and my dad. Almost a guranted bird. but then again I don't want to ruin the public land grand slam on the last leg of it.

No fence. Our subdivision is built into the preserves. they just showed up this year in the spring. Before that I never noticed them. I don't know why they like this small section in between the homes.

it depends. If you pay to hunt on someones land and you just go scout and hunt then i say go for it. But if you pay to hunt and they put you on a spot that has had corn on it all year long then i wouldnt do it.
