I could have gotten that unstuck within 20 minutes on the scene, safely, at a cost of 150. Oh, and if by some chance, I did tear something up, its taken care of. All they had to do was dig out the mud around the tire... make it so it RESEMBLED a ramp instead of trying to pull the tire straight out of a wall of mud. Douche bags.

But do you get called to take out trucks from the mud often?

People ask me if i take my vehicles off-roading a lot. Not a fucking chance. Tahoes are around 5,000lbs, have relatively small tires/contact patch (generally with a very tame tread) and a long wheelbase with a wide beam. I basically drive a glorified station wagon.

Yeah. I know what you mean. My dad had a CJ-5. Raised a few inches, with I think 15" wheels and I think the wheel was 35" or so total? I'm not really sure. I was a kid. Four speed manual, a 350 engine. It was a beast. It was great to go off roading. But we never did. Mainly because he has a pinched nerve in his back, and it would've put him in so much pain. He sold it right before I got my license. Granted, I would've killed myself with it. That thing would've been a death trap for me.

But the CJ-series will always be my favorite jeeps. I liked the 5, but it was really unsafe. Take a turn going more than 20 and you're bound to flip. The CJ-7 was safer... but, meh. For some reason I don't like the newer Jeeps. Something about "perpetrator" comes to mind for some reason.

I was waiting for one of those guys standing near it to get seriously fucked up....

Me, too. I was expecting the tether to snap and take out someone's leg.

I dunno, frame stayed straight...

I am thinking it was an inferiorly designed suspension lift, that and look at the hole he was in... His wheels were up against a wall, and he was buried deep. Give it a tug without giving the front wheels some rotation, it was bound to happen... Same thing that happens with a river that goes off road and hits a ditch, tears the Control arms loose. Only difference was the connecting axle/diff...

i agree that it has a "frame" of sorts to reinforce the body and mount the suspension, but its a unibody, so there is no body on frame construction like a pickup truck.
