If you have stocks you are currently heavily invested in or considering. Post em up and why they seem to be sound investments to you.

I'll post up mine as I add new stocks this year. This is people's money, so I know many of you have not a strand of maturity in you, but just skip this thread unless you have some sort of positive and helpful reply :)

I have a diversified portfolio and despite a piss-pour year, I ended the year with a 54.5% gain. Damn good year! I made it all in the last 3 months ha ha ha.

First question, with the dollar still being weak, is anyone investing in US stocks or moving their cash to more international stocks?

buy gold

Explain to me why buying gold NOW would be logical? Gold is currently trading at near record pricing and has been for some time. Are you suggesting that the surge in gold prices will continue upward and that this is a sound investment? Or are you trying to have people invest in something that will decrease in price losing their asses?

china bro.

China is a tough call. The value of their currency is not related to anything else. The money changes prices based on what the government decides they want it to be.

China is still a shaky place to invest (unless you want to setup manufacturing there).

Are you considering the hybrids in with this? I concur about the pure electric cars. I'm curious to know because of the success of the Prius.

The only things I have invested in is Google, Coca-Cola, and DirecTV

The latter because it is part of my benefits package.

I have shamefully not followed my stocks, but I know those 3 companies are not dropping much.

My friend gave me a tip that Google was going to the market. It was a 10k buy in, but it's well worth it. I bought as soon as they came to the market.

I did not have the cash at the time, I knew it was going to be a great buy though. Good for you!

All the bad news is actually good though. Means prices are low. You have to read up on things and understand the laws. Open a sharebuilder or equivalent account, put a little cash in it and try it out. Spend low dollars on some stock(s) and learn from that. You will lose some cash or just get lucky, but you can at least see how it works.

The key is research. Buy at lows (after reading news to make sure you are not headed for disaster) and try to sell at the point you fell it is peaking out before receding again.

Investing is not a quick money maker (most of the time) it is a long term investment.

I've always used this

http://www.sharebuilder.com/

what is overwhelming about it? If you start looking into it, talk it out on here, I'm NO expert (not even close) but a good conversation usually gets the mind working and you can solve your own problems.

I've just transferred money in using electronic transfers. I'm in the account right now as I haven't used it in awhile (I made some money too ha ha).

If lingo gets annoying, ask. few people on here can answer or we can search it out and break it down.

QTWW doesn't look too bad. They forgot to submit a form, and that is making them look stupid ha ha ha....

I'll wait for a sub 1 dollar buy-in and buy some just to watch it perform.

Unless you want to do a ton of research and watch the market everyday, i'd invest in some mutual funds right now. I have herd that south american funds have been producing some high return rates and are fairly safe.

yeah, it's a tough market at this point. China can control so much of the market at this point that it is difficult to make informed decisions (because they are not always following logical steps).
