View Full Version : Question: Figure out identify theft issues..

J31Bro

:crap:

I go to AT&T today, they tell me "seems you've got some credit issues, we'll need a $500 deposit.."

ok.. I have 0 credit. I've done nothing to even establish any sort of credit record. So this strikes me as funny.. I just figure since I have no credit, that my deposit is outrageous.

I go by T Mobile to look around.. have them run a credit check to see what prices will be like.. guy has to call in my soc#, T Mobile basically says I don't exist?

WHAT THE FUCK?

Guy there tells me "T Mobile does that sometimes when there is no established credit." So then he tries to go Sprint.. he ends up having to call them as well for "manual review" and I have to talk to the lady to answer some questions..

The lady asked me if I'd ever lived in any other cities than the one I do now, no. If I've lived at my current residence for 2+ years, yes. She tells me both answers are incorrect & continues to say "our credit check shows there is a loan currently in your name.."

:fu:

What the hell do I do?

Pull up a credit history report, find out who the loan is through, and contact them immediately!

You are allowed a free credit report every year, I'll get you the website.

You need to find out what is on your credit, who put it there, and who the loan is through. After that, you need to contact whatever financial institution currently is holding the loan, and go from there. You sure they didn't just mess up your SS# when you gave it to them?

J31Bro

thank you. i'll do this real quick.

i gave it to him 3 times verbally, then wrote it down on a piece of paper (which i got back) and eventually had to show him my actual soc card.

All 3. You are allowed all 3 free each year.

What may show on one, may not show on the other. You need all 3 to see what is going on.

We're sorry, for your protection we are unable to deliver your FACT Act Equifax Free Annual Credit Report on the internet. There are a number of reasons that we may be unable to fulfill your request online. You may have a Security Freeze on your credit file, an Active Duty Military or Fraud Alert, or the identification information submitted online may not match the information on file.

Nope. I believe you are stupid enough to have allowed this to happen.

BTW, the process of getting all this off your history is tedious and time consuming. Don't expect to get your OWN credit history back any time soon.

According to the credit report, the fraudulent occurrences started in 2004.

He could possibly be right, I have no clue if you have shitty parents or not but it is very common to put shit in your kids name if you are a deadbeat and don't pay your bills.

I've seen it done with electric, cable tv, gas etc I am sure it could be done getting CC credit by just filling it out online or mailing in one of those forms.

it also might be a mistake on the credit agencies part. i know on my credit report with experian i have a bunch of shit on there that isn't mine.

Local fuzz is awaiting a hard copy of my credit report so they can begin to sapina(sp) records and attempt to arrest those using my identity. Longshot, but can't really do much else but hope.

I contacted trans-union for a hard copy.. I got it yesterday & it only goes back 2 years. :fu:

The issues are from 2004-2007. Super fucking fail.

I'll be contacting Experian for a more in depth analysis of my credit report like the one I got from them online.

Easiest thing to do is obtain a credit card and charge it up to it's limit. Never pay the bill. Wait until your state's Statute of Limitations kicks in. Claim to not know anything about the account.

:woot: I'm now a member of lifelock thanks to this thread.

http://lifelock-scam.com/lifelock-service-ruled-illegal/

hahahahahaha. How did you not know about the LifeLock scandal?

J31Bro
01-20-2010, 12:23 AM
The suits claim that LifeLock uses aggressive advertising to entice consumers to sign up for its $10 a month service knowing that the sevice it offers is flawed because the social security number they use in the ads has been used to illegally obtain at least 20 driving licenses and a payday loan in CEO Todd Davis’ name.

As you are probably aware, Lifelock describes it’s service as “proactive identity theft protection, offering a proven solution that prevents your identity from being stolen before it happens.”

The lawsuit further claims that the LifeLock “proven solution” that it heavily and aggressively markets consists of illegally placing and renewing fraud alerts under consumers’ names with the credit bureaus.

It seems that under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, corporations such as LifeLock are not allowed to place fraud alerts on a consumers’ behalf and further more according to the complaint, the law was written so as to specifically prevent credit repair companies from improperly using fraud alerts.

Through the lawsuits plaintiffs also claim LifeLock miss-states its legal obligations to customers and what its protection service covers if a loss occurs. In marketing campaigns the company touts a $1 million guarantee, yet a closer examination at the fine print reveals that LifeLock will not pay any losses directly to the consumer and does not cover consequential or incidental damages to identity theft, plaintiffs claim. You can read more on that more than a little misleading Lifelock guarantee.

The first and original suit filed by HBSS claims LifeLock violated Arizona’s Consumer Fraud Act and the Arizona Insurance Code, and seeks to have all members’ fees refunded due to the illegality of the contract and LifeLock’s misrepresentations about its service.

lulz were had @ teh fact that joo lied.
