Going to the gym today for the first time in a while. My diet will pretty much stay the same for now until I get some of my former strength back. Then I'll modified version Nathans cut routine.
Main Goal: To be able to hang on a regulation rim again w/ 2 hands. (Silly i know) And to improve overall definition.
Main weight goal: 210-215ish ...(I feel like an Ethiopian being any smaller. Just depends on how it looks)
Early weight goal: 230
Bench Goal: 315...again
Squat Goal: 405...again
Im 6'1 244.....:(

The bench killed my arms and chest for the rest of the workout...:(
Curls:

Dumbell Chest press:
35(in each hand)x12x5
Dumbell Lat Raises:

Dumbell Front Raises:

2Handed Dumbell Tricep extension:
40x10x3
I used the tricep extension machine or whatever it was called also. But, I dont remember how much weight I had on there.
And a 135 burnout
I could've done more a few more excercises didn't really wanna kill myself in there on the first day. Especially after taking so much time off. I also had no set plan. I just went in there and started liftin. lol

Last fall I started at 255 5x5 and worked up to 295 5x5.
My last heavy workout was something like
155x10
225x5
275x2 all for warmup
then
335x3
315x4

195x12 not sure on exact numbers but very similar

Shit, at the end of my cut at the beginning of August I probably couldn't bench more than 330 or 335. Fastforward to november and add at least 30lbs to that.

I adapt too easily to chest so my bench really changes often.
Standard pyramid for me would be
135 pumps (so 15-20)...this gives my muscles some time to stretch and I'll hold at both top and bottom for a few and after that I will start to do some rapid presses
185X10
205X10
225X10
275X5-8 (normally closer to 5)
295X3
315X1-3
Between those I usually will do curls or walk over for very light tricep extensions using a rope. So no real break, but I do give the muscles about a minute to breath.
I'll usually use a block of wood and to single presses until I fail.
315X1

after those (of course breaks for other muscle groups) I will drop down to 225 and rep out 10
Pull the 45's and rep till failure. I give it about 3-5minutes and do slow reps. Honestly, the worst part of this is the last part. I'm already totally exhausted, and now I push up as hard and quickly as I can to the top of the rep, coming back down, I move very very slow....so its very much a press in reverse.

Usually called a 1-1-3-1 press. 1 second up, hold for 1 second, 3 seconds down, hold for 1 second. I finish with these as well at the end of my final drop set. Great way to completely fatique the muscle.

the wider your grip on pull ups, the more you focus on the outer section of your back. The closer your grip, the more the focus is on the middle of your back.

Fair ways. It's my first pro show, so I don't want to half ass it.
Competitions aren't a high priority for me any more. My family and future well being are my main concerns. But I've had the itch to step back on stage for a while now. So if the stars all align properly and I can focus on my training without sacrificing "too much" of my life, it will be balls to the wall.

Got in a about 6 basketball games yesterday when I was supposed 2 be lifting. Couldnt even get the ball to the rim from the 3point line in the beginning. But after I warmed up things were good.

What kind of mobility response do you have? Are you able to use a treadmill, elliptical, bike? if so, just walking or running as well? What kind of movements are uncomfortable for you, as far as bending and such? I imagine most of the issues come from movements where your center of gravity changes?

Yep, sure do. Seeing as though I'd like to join the military as soon as possble I'm extra conscious about shit.
At my height (officially w/o shoes) im 6'0" :( Even though my license and every football program that ive ever been in says 6'1. I'd have to weigh:
Army: 185
Navy: 191
Marines: 192
Airforce: 194
I have no idea what branch that I'll try to get into. So im just going for 185.

Anyone have any lower pectoral excercises besides decline bench. The arch in my lower back is slightly more exaggerated than the average person's and declines sharp pain even with very light weight.

Brah, I haven't worked out since March. I am the fattest I have been in years.
Last summer I was approx <10% bf. pretty sure below 10%. Now I am almost positive I am 16%+.
I just honestly got to the point where I was like "Is it worth it?".
What fucked me so much was it being my last semester of undergraduate school. I just got in the "Fuck It" mode.
I know I am getting off track. Just had to vent :fyi:
But for a cutting routine....
Simply put it is this:
Count calories and protein. Lift weights. Do cardio.
Once you get used to it and in the routine it is EASY. I am serious.

At 250lbs., you need to be taking in at LEAST 250 grams (which is 1000 calories) in protein alone, JUST to maintain the muscle tissue you have. You need close to double that if you are looking to gain muscle tissue. Then you need to make sure you take in enough carbs in order to process that protein and not make your body go into ketoacidosis, which can do damage to your liver and kidneys. Trust me you don't want to go through that. Not fun.

Just coming in here to keep track of things. Weighed in at 247 today after playing basketball for 5 hours and my leg routine. My off day two days ago I was around 260. :(
Dont really know whats going on. But I'm assuming that its all water weight (i drink atleast 2 liters a day) + a full stomach.
Also stepped up my calories to 2500 ish. But for some reason Im feeling like I have enough excess fat to last me a whole winter. lol.

If you're looking to push heavier and want security, use dumbbells. Hit failure and then drop to the sides. If you absolutely want to go heavy without a spotter on barbell bench press, use the power cage and set the safety rails at your bottom point. Some people make fun of this, but that is what it is for. No shame in doing that. When I train at the store afterhours by myself, that's what I do. I won't sacrifice my heavy presses just because I don't have a spotter.,

Realized that my core is the main thing hindering my progress. The thing about it is, that my swayed is def hurting me. Feels like I'm getting stabbed whenever I do lower back and ab excercises.
Im about 2 quit drinking completely and starve myself. Im sure that my body will burn alot of my muscle way like it did before. But I def lost torso fat before when I did the same thing.
My quads/glutes and upper back are still there but all this extra weight is def hindering my progress.

I found out that I lost weight just as quick going from 2,000 calories to 2,400-2,500 calories and ingesting most the extra calories from protein.
