Usually don't make these but wanted some opinions.
If anyone is selling any of these speakers as well please hit me up, I'm paypal ready.
I had ordered Polk SR6500's of egay and they sent me bad ones. So I can't seem to find 2 more pairs at all. I am trying to find something with great SQ.
I prefer to run rear fill but if need be I will spend all $1,100 on just the front set, if I feel it's worth it. I like LOUD and CLEAR. It has to keep up w/ a HDC312.
Thanks Guys...Heres what I have so far...Want to get this done ASAP if I can.
Also if you mark one of the ones w/ a ???? Please mark down what model would be good

Where's the other option?
Buy from a reputable dealer?
A place like Crutchfield is more expensive than gray-market, but you aren't as likely to get B-stock items.
That being said, if you're really interested in SQ, ditch the pre-built sets and go with individual drivers bi-amped. Hybrid Audio would be something to look into as well, because their Legatia sets don't come with Xovers...

Rainbow, Hertz, CDT, etc. Why go with Polk?

Out of the choices listed, I say Dyn.
Why go with Polk?
Actually, those SR's aren't a half-bad set, but they could be assembled cheaper just shopping on Madisound :)

Hmm. I was interested in going with this option. Not sure where to start. Any suggestions on some budget mids / tweets? I have 100w per channel to work with.

CDT, from my experience, is a load of shit. I had two of their entry line sets. One blew with like 20 minutes play time on them. The others just sounded like ass. I bought the Hertz ESK165 set, and it sounds sooo much better.

Didn't mean the Polk's were bad, just wondering why he chose.
I want to go active. I have alot of reading and researching ahead of me, though.

I've always loved Polk even when I sold them. Great speakers. Have them for home audio and they sound amazing and was thinking the car set, with all the great reviews would be just as good.

I'm not a fan of their entry sets either. I heard the higher end units (gold?) and they were decent.. I was impressed with their midbass drivers, though.

I got fucked once by MusiciansFriend.com, so even the big name places online sometimes end up as turds.
And yeah, the first time you run active, it'll probably sound like ass, but after you play around with it for a while, the benefits outweigh the limitations of being stuck with passives...

What's "budget"? 2-way I assume?
The Seas CA18 paper cones are hard to go wrong with...under $100...flat as hell response...not too tough to pair with most tweets.

Yeah. I've heard great about their mid-bass. I don't know, I don't htink I'd buy from them again. The Hertz entry line is the best for the money, IMO.

Yeah I've always wanted to try a three way system up front but have NO idea how to wire it active etc. Also do I need a EQ then as well? I have about $1100-1200 to spend

I'd love to get my hands on some Utopia's.
Also do I need a EQ then as well?
Most head units that are capable of going active have enough EQing ability built into them. Some are more flexible than others, like Pioneer's individual channel EQs vs. Alpine's parametric that covers both, but it's a start.

I have a Sundown Audio 100.4D from Jacob.
So I could only run a 2 way?

It also says the tweeter can only handle 20watts w/ no x-over? Mine pushes 100? It'll blow the tweet?
You'll be fine, volume-wise...
I hate to recommend anything on CA.com, but there is a good sticky there on running active, what exactly it entails...I don't want to repeat all that, but basically, you're substituting electronic processing for the passive crossovers, either in the source unit or the amp itself, because that amp has crossovers onboard...
I usually like using source unit processing because adjusting those tiny pots on the amp while listening can be a PITA.
What is so great about Legatia? Have you ran them before?
I don't run them yet, but the best sounding vehicle I've heard yet does (Dave Brooks' H-D F-250). I've also had a lot of listening time in the Camry that took the MECA Modex championship last season.

You won't be running that much power on the tweet - 100W on a set of tweeters would deafen you pretty quick. You'd be surprised at how little power is actually needed to have a blended soundstage...

If I'm too dumb and can't figure this out....could you recomend a good crossover to put w/ them?
Not really.
The Clarus line comes with passives, but again, they really come alive active.
It's a lot of text, but believe me, in practice it's pretty straightforward to set it up :) The tuning part is more listening than technical...just find a well-recorded track you're familiar with and go to town.

But this is all done from the amp and the HU though, just so I understand? And set the gains really low on the tweeters?
But this is all done from the amp and the HU though, just so I understand?
Yes.
It's not just the gain position, you can also adjust the level of the midbasses and tweets from the HU itself.

I hope I can...I'm not sure if that Pioneer model does that....or should I go back to an alpine or pioneer instead of the TV lol
Yeah, I have no idea about that unit. Something you'll have to find out.
Is it a double-DIN? Because you could always go with an Alpine screen and an H701 outboard processor :D

The only adjustments on it are a 3 way crossover....If I adjust one the one next to it starts to go up a little too...? Not very efficient.

http://www.12velectronics.com/servlet/the-87/HAT-Hybrid-Audio-Technologies/Detail+1 on Hybrid Audio. I have been running the Legatia L631-3 set in my car since August. Couldn't be happier. I have since bought a Clarus set for my wife's car and they are incredible. Best car speakers I have ever heard IMO. Imaging and tonality is incredible on these.
I originally bought them because of the great reviews that Car Audio & Electronics gave the Clarus set and thought I would try the Legatias. I love them both. I can see why HAT has cleaned up in the SQ competitions scene for the last few years.
Talk to Tom at 12v. I have bought both sets from him and they have excellect service.
