of 90. P90X was my birthday gift to myself and I actually feel really good about this decision. Yeah, it was ~$150 + chin-up bar + resistance bands, but it keeps me on track. It makes it THAT much harder to wake up and say "yeah I really don't feel like hittin the gym today." I don't know what the point of this was, I just got done doing it and I felt like spreading my joy to everyone else, even if it IS to you assholes who are just gonna flame me haha.
I guess since this is Fitness and Nutrition, I could also comment on supplements and food. I take (I can't remember the name of it and I don't feel like going to the tub to find out) this "anabolic igniter" powder mixed with water 30-45 minutes prior to my workout. It is supposed to put your body into an anabolic state so I can make all of the gains possible. I have a good friend I've known for half my life who works at a GNC/has a daddy who is a personal trainer/has been working out his whole life that I get ahold of when I have supplement questions. I always make sure to go into the GNC around here when he is working because I know (or at least I hope I'm right) he won't feed me a line of shit just to make me spend big bucks. He actually gives me deals on shit, and brings me into the back where the stuff that will expire in like 2-3 months is put before they clearance it and put it on the shelf then gives me the clearance price plus any discount he can get on it as well for being an employee. Immediately after the workout, I take 100% whey protein, which is strawberry flavored (yummy) and I got for ~$10 when it was originally $50-60+ since my friend got me the deal.
Umm as far as food, its kinda weird. When I get into working out, I CRAVE the good stuff. Like all the icky vegetables and what not haha. I think its that way with everyone, but I think its cool.
Oh, and last, commenting on my physical condition prior to buying p90x. I was an athlete my entire life. I played football ever since I was old enough to get into those gay youth community leagues. Had a six pack throughout high school from football in the fall, resistance training in the winter, and running track in the spring. Got football scholarships to a few colleges, but didn't take any of them. Freshman year of college was a whole lot of drinking and sometimes working out. The summer after my freshman year of college, I got into a near-fatal car accident, and was laid up in the hospital/rehab for most of summer. Months of laying in a hospital bed, being forced to eat a lot, and being denied access to their gym made me 30 pounds heavier. I weighed 150 lbs when I crashed my car, and weighed 178 lbs on my discharge date. That was back in the summer of '08 and I haven't been too serious about fixing my body, even though I am disgusted with it now after being in top shape my whole life.
WOW that turned out to be about 500x longer than I planned it to be. Oh well, thats my story. If you stuck around to hear me out, I appreciate it. Can't stop you from flaming (I don't know why you would, but meh), so say what you want, but I would love any discussions regarding p90x or supplements or anything else. Tips, tricks, advice, questions, random pictures of boobies.... they're all welcome.
(I apologize for the HUGE post)
