I have some moron friends who did "something" to my laptop. Woke up yesterday morning to find one of the hinges messed up :emo:. Any ideas on how this could possibly be fixed? I will try and get some pics up soon.

I pissed on my desk once when I was drunk as fuck, shorted out my camera so I returned it and got a new one. Hope this helps.

First the TV, now the laptop. You need new friends.

what happened to the TV bro?
Drunk kids wrestling. One of my roommates and his buddy were fucking around and went straight through the plastic screen. The tv weighs around 400 lbs and is going to be a huge pain to move.

Throw it away because a hinge broke? That's not a good reason to throw away a decent functioning laptop. As for buying a sturdier laptop, I don't think best buy would let me run durability tests on their computers.

Then rip off the monitor, attach an external one, a mouse and keyboard and turn it into a desktop.

best buy is the last place i would buy a computer from and the first place i would do durability tests!

The old hinge just snapped in half (cheap piece of shit) and it looks fairly hard to replace. I really only need the computer to surf the internet but if its not portable, I really have no use for it. I have a nice desktop already btw. I am going to have to look for a new hinge that will fit the computer...

Call the manufacturer, tell them you need a replacement, replace it. Shouldn't be too expensive.

the best part is when he finds out the hinge is not replaceable separately but instead built into the housing.

I literally did something similar with a small hinge and some small bolts, and a lot of epoxy.
Was never the same, and you couldn't close and open it really. But it would support itself.
It finally broke completely, so I continued to use my laptop by browsing with it in my lap, inside a box with the front cutout to support it.
Then I said fuck this completely working computer, with broken hinges... and bought a new one. Totally worth it.

That does not sound like the best part to me. . . .and yes, I am fairly sure that the hinge is built into the housing. I am going to try and install an external hinge. Just enough to support the screen. I cannot believe how cheaply made some of these laptops are.

My girl's laptop had a broken hinge. She wanted to keep it. I said fuck it and threw it away, then bought her a new laptop. She's much happier.
