Got a turkey kill on video and need something to edit some boring parts out. Preferably easy to use. Also video is in .AVI format. Do i need to convert it?

I get this error.
The file I:\DCIM\127SSCAM\SMOV0037.AVI cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

I got it to open in Movie Maker after converting to wmv and shrinking file size. I thought all was going well in Movie Maker when I was making my clips but now it seems as if i'm only cropping the audio now that im halfway done. Video isn't playing at all in clips. wtf.

I think i got it put together off movie maker for now. Need to caption it due to the whispering. Think I can do that on Youtube.

Sony Vegas is pretty straight-forward. It was originally audio-editing software which is about as simple as you can get.
