What do yall do to help out late night hunger? This is probably the single biggest thing destroying my diet...

Spider Monkey

I'm unaware of it. I'm asleep.

P.S. Hunger is a state of mind. Hunger pains are a mechanism that the stomach manipulates to tell your brain that it wants food. It releases this mechanism on a cycle, regardless of whether it really wants food or not. Suck it up, move through it, and be a man. It doesn't last very long and eventually you will gain control of it. How do you think I can go without breakfast or lunch every day of the week? :p

That eating after 6pm crap is a myth. That rule only applies to people who sit on the couch all night, watching tv, and eat shit and drinking pop. As long as you eat healthy choices you are fine. Your body is most dormant when you are sleeping, and this is when your muscles repair themselves. You need protein and some complex carbs, so your body can repair the muscle tissue. Don't eat a lot of simple carbs. Your body will break them down quickly, and start to store them as fat cells.

I have a 1000 calorie shake(cytogainer-only has 6 grams of sugar, with 2 cups skim milk, and a banana) right before I go to bed. Full of complex carbs and good protein sources, and tastes pretty good as well.

I eat Waffles, Frozen Spring Rolls, Bagel Bites, Cereal, Ham & Mayo sammiches, or Pop tarts.
mmm.

Banana, stores energy that will be of use the next day ;)

Pasta works great too, but often isn't an option with late night hunger. Hence the reason runners and athletes have a big pasta meal the night before an event.

Wouldn't apples and bananas be a bad idea right before bed?

To a point, yes. One banana has about 100 calories. An apple has about 81 calories. Your body won't turn that little of calories into body fat. I wouldn't take in more than a couple hundred calories in simple carbs before bed. This is just a guide line though. If you have a higher metabolism, you can get away a little easier than some one who's metabolism is slower.

Tiger Bass
03-26-2009, 01:28 AM
Well, I'm pretty fat, so I'm gonna guess mine is slow.

No offense, like, not to insult you... but times like these I'm so happy I have a fast metabolism. It's a double edged sword... I'm severely under weight, but I eat all the stuff they tell me to eat to gain weight... I've gained maybe 5 pounds over the last year. I had to stop doing a lot of the stuff I liked to do so I could gain weight. I barely run, play basketball, or skate anymore. :crap:
But at least I'm over 105! :crap:

I'd rather be big than small. I'm not as fat as BBT, but I'm not as in shape as Tapout.

I've been letting myself go recently though. It's not that I don't know all this shit...I just need a refresher. Nice to hear it from someone else. I knew protein is the best thing to eat before bed. Just needed some ideas as to what.

I've never seen pictures of Tapout. I just have heard he's ripped. For all I know he has his own gravitational pull, like BBT.

But X2. I have a small frame... and even if I did gain weight, I would just be chunky. Small frame FTL.

Tapout is ripped like a mother fucker. He's that guy everyone is envious of at the gym. Perfect build. Definition. Not TOO big.

He looks good in a kilt too :uhoh:

Fruits are a good snack, just watch out, some of them can still pack a calorie punch... They are filling, and more dense/harder fruits like apples will help to speed up your metabolism while also expending calories throughout digestion.

Lowfat milk is also a good choice. The calcium is also beneficial to your metabolism, and milk is a very filling drink.

I am constantly drinking and it definitely helps suppress my appetite later on in the day.

I drink the hell out of the Wal-Mart brand sugar-free kool-aid things.

Dump a tub in a 2 quart pitcher, mix, and it actually tastes great.

I'm gonna have to try that... I usually just do the Poland Springs, but water is so boring sometimes. I don't drink soda much anymore, my teeth are fucking sensitive as a redhead's clitoris.
