Busted ass power supply

So my parents computer won't even start to power up so naturally I assume that it is the power supply. We have an extra computer (old as piss) lying around so I figured I could take out that power supply. Unfortunately, it is only 190 watts (wut) and the one it would be replacing is 350.

Probably not even worth going through the trouble?

What kind of PC? If it's half decent then its probably worth getting a new one for it.

Should be able to get a used one pretty cheap on CL I'd think. No clue how much but I'd think $20 should get you one :wat:

Also depending on what the machine is running, a very basic $400 Dell will probably run fine on 250.

They have had nothing but problems with this computer. Two busted hard drives (assholes mounted it to the bottom of the tower) and now a broken power supply. Its about 2-3 years old so idk.

No, too lazy. But considering the power doesn't even start anything up, I assumed that it is a bad power source. I suppose it could be the motherboard too, huh?

I'd just throw the other power supply in it to see if it turns on, you don't need to plug in the hard drive or dvd drives just to test with or even put it in the case. If it works pick up a ps for 30-50 bucks

Good call. All I need to see is if it will even begin to power up which it will not right now.
