Sprint does run on a 4g network, but they cap the bandwidth to 3g though heavily.

4g is available in select markets with sprint. I currently run a sprint aircard my speed is not capped. it does suck only having 5g of usage a month though.

Tell her you want your own plan and get the all inclusive plan they offer with data. I just might cancel my Verizon contract since sprint has the best smart phone plan. Verizon and AT&t want $30 on top of whatever plan you get for data which is just damn greedy and that doesn't include text....
