18-55mm kit (iirc) and a Tamron 70-300mm. I have 2 batteries and the Canon remote for wireless shooting.

nice...really good all around kit right there. I'm not a HUGE tamron fan, but I do have one and it does pretty good work.
I'd 100% go with the Jpex kit over the amazon link.

you will be able to take much better photos with a good camera like the one jpex has. Idk if you seen my thread or not but I bought a Canon Eos Rebel t1i and i am very pleased and glad i bought a good one

I don't wanna spend $500 though, that's the issue. Though his camera seems to be a great deal, I just don't have that to spend on a camera..

We have the camera that's a couple years older... been very happy with it but we don't delve into the manual side.

If you are not wanting to go to DSLR yet then that SX20IS is awesome. I own that right now and I owned the model it replaced. I think they are great bridge cams. Plenty of features and zoom and still convenient to carry around. I am just not ready to be carrying individual lenses and learning to use them at this point. I think that model is great to learn how to use a camera. Eventually I will get a DSLR setup, but I will still keep a bridge cam like this as well. It works and I like it.

If you don't know how to use that gear then your pictures could be worse or just as shitty.

I don't see the use in getting these fucking large-ass cameras, that aren't DSLR's...
IMO I'd choose one of two cameras, pocketable point and shoot OR a decent DSLR...
None of this in between shit.

Your point? Why would I recommend from a view point other than my own? I don't personally experience your view point, so why should I bother conveying them?

This is what I'm trying to figure out. Everyone just keeps fucking me around. Only person who's helped me in the least bit has been JimJ.. and he just gave me a link to a site full of terminology way over my level of knowledge on cameras.

He has some of the best beginner tutorials on how to make halfway-decent photos than anyone else I'd recommend.

Yeah, it really is. Send me a message if you're srs though. I will tell you right off the bat that just because it has a 15mp ccd, doesn't mean it takes better pics than a 10mp DSLR by any means. It's great because it lets you take good pics in an easily manageable form factor but you'll still be missing out on the amount of light a larger CCD can take advantage of. With that said, it has almost all the settings an entry to mid level dslr does and even has HDR settings. I've enjoyed it and its only on its second or third charge.. of which i was able to take a few hundred pics with (each, although i dont use flash much, so your mileage may well vary).
