Temporary false bubble.
^This.
Many other stats have been posted indicating that Microsoft has split into many more ventures than Apple, making it's total net worth double of Apple's.
Therefore, what you're reading is a Apple nut-hugger blogger who got too excited from his false stats.

Microsoft: That's OK, We Still Make More Profits
7:00 AM - May 28, 2010 by Marcus Yam - source: Tom's Hardware US
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer not rattled by Apple's overtake.
Zoom
This week's stock market showed that Apple had finally climbed over Microsoft to become the world's largest tech company in terms of market capitalization. While that sort of thing could worry Microsoft, CEO Steve Ballmer isn't worried at all.
"I will make more profits and certainly there is no technology company in the planet which is as profitable as we are," Ballmer said to the Wall Street Journal. "Stock markets will take care of the rest."
"We are executing very well," he said. "That's going to lead to great products and great success."
Now there's a rumor that Steve Ballmer will be joining his Steve-counterpart at Apple's WWDC on June 7 for some sort of announcement. Could there be enough room on the stage for such a bold, Steve duet? Apparently not.
