View Full Version : Single subs that can take 2500RMS Daily?

Suggest them. I'm not looking for an SPL monster more of an SQL Oriented sub. I Looked at the RE XXX just wasn't all impressed with the specs. I have my eye on a TC Sounds Axis right now. But really I don't know of many subs with this kind of power handling, Thanks!

99% of them would go up in smoke in 30 sec or less with that power.

this. 2500 watts and sq doesn't exactly mix well.
regardless of ur "preferences of wanting an sql over spl oriented" sub i would still get a warden cus your a pussy if you get anything else.
how about 3 idmax's?

Just get a beast ass SPL sub. At 145db, you won't hear much of a difference in SQ.

you're just trying to get loud but sound good doing it? I'm not thinking that much power is required. A well designed box seems more important to me than the power going to the sub. Actually, the box will determine the power needed.
I think that the volfenhangs are rated to take that much.

Well ya I do wanna be loud as fuck. I was running a DC XL and I want more.

Never heard or ran one. Just one of the subs I have my eye on.

Also been looking at BTL's. I know these are more SPL oriented but does anyone have any first hand experience with these running daily? I also heard the mach 5 spl does well daily for a more spl oriented sub.

I have never ventured into the LOUD and good sounding (honestly, I've always been semi quiet and just sounding okay ha ha) but XXX seems like one that could do it.
W7? Expensive sure, but does sound pretty nice.

Adire Brahma would do the trick maybe a tempest? Not to the power handling you are asking though
ThomasG

I thought W7's are rated well below 2500rms
pl8er
06-05-2010, 10:46 AM
they are (1500watts). You seem really stuck on being at 2500, why?

honestly, if your re.... er... dc sub is not sufficient, dropping in another isn't going to make things any better. start tweaking your install if you want to 'get loud'.

It actually has the potential to be a pretty low-distortion speaker, but it requires a very different enclosure and power needs than most bassheads use.

I used to run an 18'' btl on 2500 rms and it did the job just fine. It kept up with the death metal I listen to as well as the rap and shit. I was never disappointed.

Exactly my thoughts JimJ. I would love to know your thoughts on how air displacement affects the isometric performance of a sealed 6th chamber t-line enclosure using only tube-compression dry horns. :)
