So I got the A600 from OLT in last night. Listened to music at a moderate level on the way to school today and it sounded great. After school I'm in the parking lot pulling out and have it cranked with some pretty loud bass. Then about a minute later the music cuts out and I just hear a loud humming/buzzing sound and immediately shut off the music. Get home and check all the connections, and there doesn't appear to be any shorts or anything. Car was running so it was getting full 14 volts, and my gains are set so it's pushing 110w at most. Opened it up and there doesn't appear to be anything burnt or broken, checked and the buzzing sound is coming through the speakers as well as the amp its self, near the big coils and capacitors, couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from. :crap::crap::(:(:tear::tear:

Will do, and I'll get pictures of the guts. Doubt it's my ground since i've been running my sae1200d off the same ground with no problems, as well as the crescendo. And like I said it worked fine earlier. Could the vibrations from the bass have fucked it up?

PS- that don't mean dick. The PPI pulls 50 amps when crunk'd, add that to the sundown and you were pulling amps out the ass, your voltage could have been spiking down to 11.5

Do you have a volt meter on the amp inputs? I don't care what the front of the car has. Voltage is electron flow. Electrons are in the back at the amp ground.

Amps that work don't stop working unless something in the mix goes wrong. If you were crunk up and jammin and something let go, something in the mix caused it to fail. You were rockin' all last night and then some today...... you think you might have popped a tweeter or something and shorted the amp? Maybe bottomed a mid out and arc'ed the coil?

It's possible. I'll go hook it up for a second without the speakers connected to see if it still makes noise.

BAD NEWS!!! Just went out, hooked it up with no speakers attached, just ground, power, remote and rca's. AND IT SMOKED AND BURST INTO FLAMES BEFORE I COULD TURN THE POWER OFF!!!!!!!!! I'm so upset right now.

That is impressive as hell. Power supply damage is usually low voltage, but IDK. The buzzing you heard was the transformer fighting whatever happened first drawing amps. This is why the power supply went to shit.

I have a similar story. I also have never killed an amp and I bought a beautiful Orion 225 hcca amp on ebay. When it got here I plugged it up and started playing it and 30 seconds later it was dead. The power supply ground lead was frayed and hanging by a string the amp oscillated itself into oblivion. $200 for 30 seconds of fun.

Well i feel like I can't really hold him responsible since it worked at first, but I've never had an issue with an amp before and I can't find the cause of this which leads me to believe there was a reliability issue with the amp. I owed him about $40 still since I did not have the full asking price at first. I told him I could pay what I owed him on the 15th when I get my paycheck but he said to just put it towards repairs, which I think is fair.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and get it repaired. Zed Audio gave me an estimate of 100-125 without them actually seeing the amp yet. My options are either get it repaired or buy tappy's JBL. I'm gonna triple check every part of my system and make sure no wiring is messed up at all and whatnot.

Zed is great but expensive. DB-R is fantastic and very reasonably priced but is always behind and just takes some time. To me I would rather wait for DB-R as he has worked on 5-6 amps I have had over the years both old school and newer high powered stuff. He is in Houston so shipping time for me is nothing as well.

Edit: You might look into to TIPS as well. I have only heard about their work. All is top notch from what I hear but may be pricey.

bought a saz-1500d from DB-R. fucker sent me an amp without fuses, broken gain knob, bad input Caps.

Repaired it and about 3 weeks later when i started my car it smoked, radio was not even on.

Nope that one was bone stock. It is a first gen. There were two first gen revisions before the .2 models and they did change some shit. When they changed the art on the side of the amps they changed some product inside. Total of three art models. two first gens and one .2 revision.

I do not. I don't have any of the proper items needed to diagnose and repair. Technically the equipment I have would do for audio repair, but it is geared for digital repair not analog. All the settings are set up on ttl, dtl, stuff like amps are mostly analog and cmos. It would totally fuck everything up to have to change it all since I work on a specific item that the settings never change on. .......even then I don't know much about repairing amps except tracing the signal path. Ever since the computer has gotten more advanced and every thing went digital it split the electronics community down the middle. I mess with digital.
