Open box FTW.
A few years ago I got a 27" Samsung 720p open box at walmart for $275 which is about normal now, but when I got it, all the others were close to $400. Def look into floor models and returns.

contrast ratio maybe, dynamic contrast ratio is like MAX power on amps.
1 million : 1 native contrast FTW
Even static contrast ratio with no other information about how it was tested is next to useless...

If I was buying a plasma - Panasonic professional series (model numbers start with TH-12UK). They're crazy heavy, but look amazing. Have 2 of the 85s outside my office now :)
If you want small and light - Samsung LED LCD. Even the 50+ ones are really, really light. And they look very good, much better than the fluorescent-based LCDs.

Even though the Panasonic is bigger, I'd have to say that this is the true King.
